Privacy notice
Pilot draft: this notice is for the Paithan pilot and is still being checked by a lawyer. Version privacy-notice-2026-09-29.
This notice says what data EO2DM collects when you use Field Report (pilot), why, where it is kept, who can see it, and what you can do.
Who we are
EO2DM runs this pilot service (Field Report (pilot), with the AgScore field score). EO2DM decides why and how your data is used, so it is the data fiduciary under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Your FPO helps with the pilot under a written agreement with EO2DM.
What this service does
We look at your field in satellite pictures (from the European Copernicus Sentinel satellites) and make a report about it: whether a crop was grown, how it grew, and signs of flood or crop loss. The report is made from satellite pictures only. What you tell us does not change the score.
This is a pilot. Reports are provisional. They must not be used to decide a loan or an insurance claim.
What data we collect, and why
- Your mobile number: to let you sign in with a one-time code sent by SMS.
- Your name (if you give it) and the names of family members on your phone: to show your plots to you and your family.
- The outline or location of your plot, and the village: to find your field in the satellite pictures.
- Your answers and notes about your plot (crop, sowing date, what happened): to show you and your FPO what the pictures found. Notes do not change the score.
- If FPO staff helped you: the staff member's ID and GPS position when they started: to check the plot was added in the field.
- Your choices (agreements, sharing, stopping the FPO link): to prove what you agreed to and when.
- A record of who opened or got your plot's report: so you can see it under “Who saw my field”.
We do not collect your Aadhaar number, bank account, land record (7/12) or caste. Do not type them in notes.
Who can see what
- You: everything about your plots, your notes, and who saw your field.
- Your FPO: your notes on a plot, only if you said yes to the FPO link (you can stop it any time under “Your FPO”). Its member list shows your member number, village and plot status only after you share a plot with the FPO; otherwise it sees counts only.
- A bank, insurer or other organization: the report on your plot, only if you share it with them (for up to 90 days, and you can stop). Never your name, phone number or notes. Every time they open or get it, you see it under “Who saw my field”.
- Anyone with a view-only link you made: the report, until the link ends (90 days) or you stop it. Not your name, phone or notes.
- Anyone with the report code or QR code: the public check page (that the report is genuine, the village and tehsil, and codes called hashes). Never who owns, farms or bought the report.
- The district agriculture office: only totals per village and tehsil (sown area, flooded area). Never your plot on its own, never your name.
- An insurer in the pilot: sends its own list of claims (with no names or phone numbers) and gets satellite evidence on those places. It does not get your account data.
- EO2DM support staff: what they need to help you. When staff open your report, you see “Support staff” under “Who saw my field”.
Where your data is kept
In India, on Amazon Web Services in Mumbai, in an account used only for this pilot. The satellite picture catalogs we search are outside India and receive only a map box and dates (no name or phone). The map background comes from Esri straight to your phone. No farmer data is sent to any AI service.
How long we keep it
Your name and number are kept while your account is open and deleted after you close it. Issued reports are kept for up to 10 years so they can be checked, but can be erased on request. A public log keeps only codes (hashes) of each report for 10 years; these codes contain no name, phone or field outline.
Your rights
- See what data we hold about you, and who we shared it with.
- Correct or complete wrong data, or erase it. Some things cannot be erased, such as the codes in the public log.
- Take back your agreement at any time, as easily as you gave it. This does not undo what was done before.
- Complain to our grievance officer, and then to the Data Protection Board of India.
- Name a person to use these rights for you if you die or cannot act. Ask the grievance officer how.
How to take back an agreement or stop sharing
- Notes: under “My plots and notes”. Your notes are hidden; the satellite check result stays in the report.
- FPO link: “Your FPO”, then “Stop this”.
- Sharing with a bank or insurer: on the report, “Stop sharing”.
- A plot: release it from your list. Notes you sent about it are taken down.
- Your whole account: “Delete my account” under “My plots and notes”.
Your FPO coordinator can help you with any of these.
Contact and complaints
Grievance officer: to be named before the pilot starts. Until then, ask your FPO coordinator.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
